Fashion Show
The Rest of the Story
Our able volunteers cleared the main floor and set up an eclectic variety of chairs, creating a welcoming space for our guests. A very inviting refreshment table, created by Sherry Boucher, was resplendent with snacks; cider, coffee, cookies, candy, and other delights. Della Lewis, Co-chair, sewed several stylish rope-and-fabric bowls that were offered as prizes after the show. Excitement grew rapidly as our guests arrived, ready to be enthralled by remarkable resale fashion. ACTS resident fashionista, Marilyn Dork, one of our savvy Tuesday volunteers, selected both the styles and outfits. Svelte, graceful models – Kathy, Sherry, Lila, Reilly, Faun, Tessa, Zoe, Della, Eileen, Mary Anne and Marilyn – sashayed up and down our runway, showing fantastic outfits that can be created using clothing from our store. Many of the articles sold were ones that had been modeled during the show. Emcee Elizabeth Rivers provided rapid, witty commentary for each trip down the runway. And behind the scenes, Candy Whitmore helped prepare our models for each appearance. After the show, clothes were offered for sale. Many outfits purchased were ones worn by our models. Everyone worked together – volunteers, helpers, models, husbands, Frank (volunteer) and customers – to create a truly delightful and fun community event. We've been asked to have another show in spring, so watch for news on the ACTS Web site, Facebook page and by signing up to receive our weekly flyer. |
